Sherry Flanigan began playing guitar at the age of 16. She started off playing folk and then moved on to bluegrass. She has spent hours jamming on bluegrass standards. One can hear both folk and bluegrass roots in her music. Sherry was also influenced by the standards she heard growing up. Her parents enjoyed listening to recordings of music by artists such as Benny Goodman, Glen Miller, and the Andrews Sisters.
Vocal training was an important part of Sherry's musical education. Ten years of private instruction is evident in the dynamic singing that enhances all lyrics.
Sherry's songwriting is inspired by the beauty and history of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State and the wilderness of Alaska.
